Kansas City’s Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa called on Yaeger Architecture’s hospitality experience to help bring to market their first new restaurant in over 10 years.

Argosy aspired to activate an underutilized guest services space near the casino floor by converting it into a modern gastro-pub restaurant and sports bar. Argosy commissioned Yaeger with the challenge of designing the restaurant to include a brand new full-service commercial kitchen, a variety of seating options for over 100 guests, and a center bar with over 60 beer taps.

Yaeger’s design team worked with the client to provide a design solution that would help position the restaurant as a new and exciting experience for Kansas City craft beer connoisseurs. Yaeger’s solution included an interactive experience for both casino and restaurant patrons – a self-serve beer wall featuring 28 craft beers that customers can pour themselves and taste by the ounce. An additional 64 taps were incorporated into the new center bar design, allowing customers to order almost any beer on the menu in a glass. This is the fourth opening of a 99 Hops House in the casino market, but the Kansas City location is only the second restaurant in the Kansas City area to provide a self-serve beer experience.

Additionally, the space was outfitted with custom iron grillwork that provided views in and out of the restaurant to casino-goers, handmade reclaimed tables and furniture, metallic accents throughout, recycled glass countertops, polished concrete floors, and industrial-style glass chandeliers.

The menu at 99 Hops House includes Yaeger-verified amazing burgers, wings, flatbreads, and more.

Yaeger’s interiors team was also called on to provide design services for the conversion of an existing Italian restaurant in the casino into a new-concept Mexican restaurant. The design team provided a cost-effective solution by reutilizing existing assets of the space in a fresh way.

The furniture and much of the existing structural elements were updated and repurposed while vibrant, traditional colors from Mexican weavings were used to brighten the walls and bar area. A custom “salsa bar” blanketed in metallic glass tile was incorporated into the design. Mexican lanterns were hung throughout the ceiling plane of the space to create a sense of warmth, flare and excitement. Finally, a mix of traditional, handmade decorations imported from Mexico and modern, local artwork were also used to liven up the space.
